Well, we got all the laminates in for the port aft beam mount but stopped there. It's very slow going right now for lots of reasons.

Hi Ed , I reckon that though the Vikings made wooden boats they would have used fibreglass had it been available ! Cheers , Jim Buckland .

Despite your struggles, it looks really good Ed. I like the upside down picture - I need to plan on doing that so I can tape the underside of my settees.

Goes quick, just have to position yourself in very awkward positions sometimes while taping. Just finished with everything forward of the cabin bulkhead (sans the settee bunk which is getting laminated and hopefully will be cut out tomorrow to tape in place). Only have a few bits left to install in this half and it's done.

It's VERY motivating to actually SEE progress now!

Ed,

I live in San Antonio. I would be very interested in seeing your F22 and talking with you about it. Do you live in Austin or San Antonio?

Jay,

Unfortunately you hit the nail on the head. For the first time we had some bubble issues - no doubt because of the drastic swings in temperature between the day/night when it was glassed. Parts of it turned out great, but there are a few bubbles that will be taken care of before this half leaves the mold. I think what also happened is that because it was so cold, the epoxy was thicker than desired and the fabric "floated" away from the foam in some spots.

Hey Ed,

What's the purpose of those little circles I see on the laminate in this link:

http://www.digitalvagabond.net/f-22/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2317

Was wondering if you were experiencing some bubble issues like I had? That's too bad if so; fwiw, my experience (plus Allen who's building an F44 down in Oregon) is that if you pre-coat\screed the corecell with a thin bog, you get better adhesion and no bubble problems.

Nice progress on the first hull half btw, it's looking very good.
